How to Play
In Basilika you build two things: your deck, and the battlefield itself, laid tile by tile. Then you outmaneuver your opponent across it to capture their King. Here's how a game flows.
Start of Turn
Each turn, you gain 3 Actions (3A), then draw. How many cards you draw depends on the stage of the game. See Player Turn.
Early Game
- Draw Two Cards
- Draw 2 cards each turn. In a one-on-one game, the first player draws only 1 on their first turn.
- 3A
- Spend your 3 Actions in any order: play cards, move or attack, and use tile effects.
Mid Game
Mid-Game begins once a contiguous set of adjacent tiles connects the two players' Archetypes.
- Draw One Card
- Draw 1 card each turn.
- 3A
- You still gain 3 Actions each turn.
End Game
End-Game begins when no tile can be played in a legal position.
- Draw Zero Cards
- No one draws at the start of their turn.
- 3A
- You still gain 3 Actions each turn.
- How Playing Tiles Changes
- Tiles are played only for their End-Game effects, unless they have Overplay, and are then removed from the game.
